    Default Vixen sequences

    There have been a number of threads on VIXEN import issues and I dont see any answer to my question.

    Any vixen sequence that I try to import imports as one big DMX controller. Not being a vixen user does anyone have any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    I too am having issues with the demo version of LightShowPro.. I am attempting to convert a Vixen sequence to LOR S2 via LightShowPro.. the Vixen sequence is created in Vixen 2.1 or 2.5.. (the version doesn't make much difference with the end result) - LOR complains there are no channels in the sequence, and upon inspecting, there aren't!

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <sequence saveFileVersion="3" author="DJ Schwede - Music Box Dancer (Christmas Lights 2010 B).mp3" createdAt="21/04/2010 4:50:47 AM" musicFilename="D:\Light-O-Rama\Audio\DJ Schwede - Music Box Dancer (Christmas Lights 2010).mp3">
    	<channels />
    </sequence>
    Will there ever be a cheaper version of LSP that will just convert sequence types? I'm not really after a new sequencer but I do find Vixen more responsive than LOR (was using Vixen plugins last year but this year am no longer using any DIY controllers) so ultimately I'm wanting to sequence in Vixen then convert to Light-O-Rama, reconfigure channel names, colours, animation preview, and controllers (with a LOR channel config file) but ultimately its the data (on/off/ramping) of each of the channels I'd like to convert.

    Edit: Also, if the developer wishes to have a copy of these sequences, I'm fine with that, as any progress for fixing Vixen->LSP->LOR conversion is good.

    Mike,

    every vixen sequence that i have imported has taken a long time to import and yes it is one big long dmx channel. I wonder if someone over at DIYL would have a better answer for changing the sequence before it is imported to better work?

    Does anyone have any suggestions on this issue or is it a LSP bug?

    Just tried to import a Vixen 2.1 sequence in to LSP so that it can be converted to LightORama S2 format - but yet again, all I get a LOR sequence without any timings of channels.

    LightShowPro 1.7 did not fix this problem

    That reminds me to go to the D. I.Y.forum and ask a question about Vixen.

    Hi, if youre only using the LSP demo to convert into LOR and have no intentions of using LSP... you may look into getting LOR to import Vixen files.

    this will be addressed for LSP customer needs, however importing of vixen to use in LSP is not a good option due to the drastic differences between the two environments. Vixen only thinks in terms of steps (incrementally at given intervals .05s) where as LSP works with high level items such as effects, transitions...it is tuned for these... and less for the micro-managed "steps"... the trend is to have to deal with the micro-nuances of effect timing less as channel counts increase... converting a vixen sequence into an lsp sequence requires a great deal of assumption interpreting effects from trends in steps, this is the time consuming process.

    There may be a spin-off product that solely converts sequences... it has existed for over a year now, but it is not publically available.

    hope this helps to clarify,
    Thanks,
    David

    if you would like to send the vixen file to support @ Lightshowpro.com I can look into the conversion issue you are having.

    I have emailed support four versions of the Vixen sequence, and the accompanying music track.

    I await your findings, and hope the bugs aren't too complicated to fix

    I also like the sounds of that conversion utility you speak of.
