Default LSP 2.5 Scheduler Problem - Timing lags during scheduler playback and lights stop

    Hi All,

I've been doing some testing today with the LSP 2.5 Scheduler and I have come across some major issues.

Firstly I'm running LSP on an i7 Quad Core, Windows 7, 8Gig RAM and a dedicated Graphics card.

The hardware is about 5000 channels of LED Flexstrip

I connect to the LED FlexStrip like this:
    PC->Router (via CAT5)->Etherdongle->SmartString Hub->Smart String Controller->LED FlexStrip

So I have loaded up three sequences to the Scheduler to test against.

    They are:

    Sequence Music Length Sequence Size
    Seq 1 1.34 10.8M Bytes
    Seq2 1.33 9.2M Bytes
    Monster Mash 2.57 18.6M Bytes

Now all play back in the sequencer just fine, timing is spot on, no issues at all.

Now I just loaded up the three sequences in the Scheduler

The shorter sequences play in the scheduler pretty well, how ever, occasionally when it moves to the next sequence, the music plays, but the lights do not.
Eventually the lights will come back on, then they will not as it moves to the next sequence.

Now, when the scheduler gets to the Monster Mash Sequence, the lights slowly drifts out of time to the music (see link below to the video)
The shorter, less complex sequences seem to run ok (apart from the lights not coming on sometimes)

This is a very real issues with Halloween coming up and the scheduler not working. I'm happy to do further testing
and take feedback on any work arounds.

Here's the test video clip below:
Timing really starts to go out of sync at 53 seconds into the video and never really recovers, and it's repeatable, does the same thing every time on playback.

    Pete,

Have you reported this through the LSP bug report function. If not please do so. If you have any trouble reporting this please PM me.

I was contacted by the developer and told to bump up the Effects Generation Timing from the default 30ms.

After I bumped it to between 80 and 100ms all the lagging of the lights to the music went away and the non-starting lights issues all went away.

Well pleased now. Very happy it's all working now, from sequencer to scheduler, awesome!

Thanks for sharing this info and could you please keep us all posted whether it continues to work or not? I am having some lack of clarity on effects I am using on a horizontal Matrix and I will try bumping up the EGT in the morning to see if it makes the effects come out more clear. George

    George,

Let me know what kind of effects you're having issues with on the matrix. There were some things that were discovered during beta that we worked on. Always looking for more data to discover why these things happen.

    Pete,

Do you have any timing intervals less than 50ms?

If so what is approximately the smalles timing interval you have?

Was your sequences created in LSP or imported from another Sequencer? If Imported what sequencer were they created in?

    Thanks,

Well so far what I am seeing is blue and red at the fringes of white block dropper effects, I have a horizontal matrix of 10 ninety node smart string flex strips using the etherdongle and it happens whether I use up, down, right or left. Also on the sparkle macro effect, from the middle of the third strip down instead of it being white it is pink, light blue, medium blue, red and white with no real repeating pattern to the colors. This only happens on this specific pattern and other sequences I made with the matrix animator don't have this problem either.

Also having a hard time getting anything that resembles text on my matrix. Effects are being generated, but they hardly look like words at all. Tried different fonts and sizes, no luck yet. And the text from v2.0 sequences look and work just fine. I am inserting a picture from a v2.0 sequenceDSCN0425.JPG
